New York (Nabaa Sudan) – A confidential report by the United Nations Panel of Experts on Sudan has concluded that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recruited Colombian mercenaries to fight alongside the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and transported them to Sudan through Libya, Somalia and Chad.
According to the report, reviewed by Middle East Eye platform, the mercenaries took part in military operations in Darfur, particularly the siege and capture of El-Fasher. Their support included operating drones and artillery systems, as well as providing infantry support.
Meanwhile, the UAE rejected accusations of wrongdoing in the war, saying it takes claims concerning mercenaries seriously. However, its Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not respond to the platform’s request for comment.
