International Civil Campaign Launched to Call for Designating RSF as ‎Terrorist Organization

An international civil campaign has been launched under the name ‎‎“Stop RSF Terror” to mobilize global public opinion and pressure ‎governments, parliaments, and international institutions to designate ‎the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia as a terrorist organization and ‎impose coordinated sanctions on its leaders, financing and arms ‎networks, and the entities enabling it to continue its operations.‎

The campaign seeks to transform solidarity with the victims of the war ‎in Sudan, particularly the atrocities witnessed in El-Fasher, into ‎organized international action calling for political and legal measures ‎and accountability for those responsible for crimes committed against ‎civilians.‎

The campaign draws on reports and evidence issued by the United ‎Nations, international human rights organizations, and independent ‎research centers documenting violations that include mass killings, ‎sexual violence, ethnic cleansing, siege and starvation, forced ‎displacement, and attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in ‎various parts of Sudan.‎

Its objectives include mobilizing support for formal decisions to ‎designate the RSF militia as a terrorist organization in accordance with ‎the legislation and legal procedures applicable in different countries. It ‎also seeks to promote sanctions against RSF leaders and associated ‎financing, arms, and supply networks, strengthen international ‎accountability efforts, and broaden public participation in putting ‎pressure on decision-makers.‎

The campaign has launched a website at https://stoprsfterror.com/ to ‎enable individuals and civil and human rights organizations around the ‎world to participate. The platform allows users to select a target ‎country, identify the relevant officials and entities, review or edit a ‎prepared message, and send it by email to call for action against the ‎militia.‎

According to the platform, participants can direct messages to ‎government officials, parliamentarians, ambassadors, and ‎international bodies, with the option of contacting numerous entities ‎using the available lists. The platform also records and displays the ‎aggregate number of messages sent to demonstrate the scale of public ‎participation. It states that these statistics are presented in aggregate ‎and anonymously.‎

The campaign says it is not affiliated with any government, political ‎party, or armed formation. It does not collect financial donations or ‎require participants to create an account, and it states that it does not ‎collect personal data for commercial purposes.‎

The campaign has called on Sudanese people, friends of Sudan around ‎the world, human rights and civil society organizations, researchers, ‎journalists, and human rights defenders to take part in advocacy ‎efforts, contact relevant international bodies, and share the ‎campaign’s link, with the aim of turning calls for accountability into ‎organized international public pressure.‎

The campaign emphasizes that documenting and condemning ‎violations alone are insufficient to prevent their recurrence. It ‎therefore calls for political and legal measures targeting those ‎responsible for the crimes and the networks enabling them to ‎continue committing violations.‎
