Sudan’s Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to international climate change agreements and goals during a capacity-building workshop on climate transparency.
Secretary-General Suleiman Al-Buni underscored the importance of strengthening emissions monitoring and reporting systems and enhancing institutional coordination, noting the existence of legal and institutional gaps that require attention.
The workshop also discussed updating greenhouse gas inventories and improving data collection mechanisms in line with the requirements of the Paris Agreement, as well as Sudan’s recovery and reconstruction plans.
