The International Criminal Court (ICC) said Deputy Prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan met with communities affected by the situation in Darfur during a visit to eastern Chad, where she listened to victims' experiences and perspectives.
The court said the Darfur situation remains one of the Office of the Prosecutor's priority investigations. During her visit, Khan met victims in the Farchana and Goz Beida refugee camps and assured them that the court's cases are built on the testimonies and accounts of the people of Darfur.
The ICC added that the evidence collected reflects the scale of the alleged crimes, including persecution and widespread sexual violence against victims.
