Sudan’s Minister of Justice, Abdullah Dirif, affirmed that all legal prerequisites required to designate the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia as a terrorist organization have been fully satisfied, stressing that what remains is the political will of the international community to take a clear and decisive decision in this regard.
In a statement to Al-Muhaqqiq news website, Dirif said the most direct path to halting the militia’s violations lies in cutting off external support, foremost among it assistance provided by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government.
The justice minister further noted that the latest report issued by the International Criminal Court was prepared within the framework of the referral made by the United Nations Security Council concerning the Darfur region. He explained that the report contains data and evidence admissible before the Court, despite Sudan not being a party to the Rome Statute.
Dirif underscored that, under the Security Council referral, the International Criminal Court retains the legal authority to issue arrest warrants against leaders of the militia.
