Darfur Government Spokesman: Exams for Militia Leaders’ Children Expose Double Standards

Minister of Information and Official Spokesman for the Darfur Regional Government, Professor Ahmed Izhag Shanab, said that the participation of 299 children of militia leaders in the Sudanese Secondary School Certificate examinations through external centers exposes the double standards in their positions. He noted that while they push their own children toward education, they push the children of Darfur toward war and destruction.

The minister said militia leaders recognize the importance of the Sudanese certificate administered by the government, while seeking to steer children in the region toward irregular educational paths and recruit school-age children.

He affirmed that allowing the children of militia leaders to sit for the examinations reflects the government’s commitment to providing education for all Sudanese children without discrimination.
