Darfur Region Governor: Relinquishing the Land Is a Betrayal of Dignity and History

The Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minawi said the situation in North Darfur represents “a decisive moment for land, dignity, and existence,” warning that any complacency in defending the land paves the way for its plunder, the erasure of collective memory, and the displacement of its people.

Minawi stressed that those standing today on Darfur’s soil are defending a history written in patience, tears, and sacrifice. He urged residents not to abandon their land or homes to aggressors, saying: “Do not relinquish your land, do not allow your memory to be erased, and do not hand over your homes to those who seek to uproot you from your roots.”

He underscored that unity is not a choice but a matter of survival, arguing that real strength lies in cohesion and alignment, and that victory can only be achieved through an unbreakable will.

He concluded: “Land that is not protected by its people is stolen, dignity that is not defended is assassinated, and whoever retreats from their rights today forfeits their tomorrow and their history.”
