Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – The Sudanese Dialogue Preparatory Committee has set clear boundaries for its role, affirming that its task is limited to creating a conducive environment and facilitating the dialogue process, while the issues to be discussed and the participants are to be determined by Sudanese people themselves.
Speaking during a consultative meeting with the Central Sudan Forum and Movement at the committee’s headquarters, committee spokesperson Othman Mirghani said the committee “has nothing to do with determining the participants or agenda of the dialogue,” noting that the outcomes of the ongoing consultations will form the platform capable of bringing Sudanese people together around the dialogue table.
In the same context, committee member Suleiman Al-Amin said participation by any party in the dialogue process should be based on competence, fairness, and integrity, noting that the committee’s proposals have been met with seriousness and broad acceptance beyond expectations.
Al-Amin announced the committee’s readiness to hold meetings with various groups and segments of society in cities and states, seeking to broaden the scope of consultations and avoid limiting them to political forces or elites.
This comes as the committee pushes for a dialogue based on stakeholder participation, on the grounds that identifying the issues and parties concerned with them should emerge from a broader consultative process rather than from a prior decision by the Preparatory Committee.
