Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Osman Hamza met with UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women and Girls Reem Al-Salim to discuss measures to protect and support women subjected to abuses by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The talks reviewed the severe humanitarian impact of militia attacks, including displacement, loss of livelihoods and casualties, and assessed government efforts to provide health, psychological care, shelter and food to survivors.
Officials reaffirmed commitments to expand social protection and psycho-social support programmes in coordination with national and international partners, while the UN envoy stressed the need for sustained coordination to strengthen protection, humanitarian response and recovery for affected women and communities.
