Sudanese Mineral Resources Company Launches Campaign to Remove Traditional Mining Waste in Khartoum

The Sudanese Mineral Resources Company has launched a campaign to remove the remnants of traditional mining activities in Soba and the Sabaa residential scheme in Khartoum State.
The company revealed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia had constructed more than 70 pits within schools and residential areas in Soba during their period of control. These pits were reportedly used to process mining waste through unregulated and unsafe methods.
The company emphasized that the campaign will continue until all waste and pits are cleared, noting that they have caused significant environmental pollution, particularly with mercury and other hazardous chemicals.
