Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed the state’s commitment to implementing the outcomes of the national dialogue that serve the interests of the Sudanese people.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of Sudanese media professionals participating in the Media Issues Forum in Khartoum, Al-Burhan said those taking part in the dialogue are seeking to build the Sudanese state on the foundations of justice and equality. He clarified that the national dialogue involves political and civilian forces only and does not include military forces.
Regarding the proposed arms embargo expected to be brought before the UN Security Council, Al-Burhan said the resolution would not pass in the Council and stressed that it would have no impact on the Sudanese Armed Forces or its position on the battlefield.
He reiterated that no faction would be allowed to gain political or other concessions through the use of arms, stressing: “There will be no militias within the state once the war ends.”
Al-Burhan said that what happened on October 25 was not a coup, but rather a correction of the course of the revolution. He said the first government of former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok had failed to build the state and sought to empower political parties at the expense of state institutions. He added that Hamdok had agreed to dissolve the government and form a new government capable of building the state and moving it forward.
The TSC President noted that the first months of the war were extremely difficult, with many military positions falling to the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, except for the Armored Corps. This forced the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to conduct airdrops of food and medicine to troops stationed inside the General Command.
Al-Burhan revealed that a group including Mariam Al-Sadiq, Khalid Omar, and Babiker Faisal had attempted to formulate an agreement different from the Framework Agreement and sought to persuade the authorities to accept it. He said the proposal was intended to give the group control over the executive branch and allow it to remain in power for 10 years, adding that he categorically rejected the offer.
The TSC President reiterated that the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia would have no role whatsoever in the Sudanese state following the violations and atrocities it had committed against the Sudanese people. He added, “We remain committed to our position on the Jeddah Agreement.”
He disclosed that the United States had been invited to send a delegation to Sudan to assess conditions on the ground, but the invitation had received no response. He renewed the call for US officials to visit Sudan and see the realities on the ground for themselves.
Al-Burhan praised the enormous sacrifices made by the Sudanese people in the “Battle for Dignity,” stressing the need to document them for future generations.
He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to brotherly and friendly countries that stood by Sudan during the difficult period it experienced as a result of the aggression launched by the terrorist militia against the Sudanese state and its institutions.
