Sudanese Diplomat Says Peace Cannot Be Achieved by Disarming the State

Sudan’s Minister Plenipotentiary at the country’s mission to the United Nations, Ammar Mahmoud, said peace would not flourish by disarming the Sudanese state while the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia is being supplied with weapons from abroad, accusing the paramilitary group of committing “genocide.”

Mahmoud made the remarks in a post on X in response to a joint article by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Michael Waltz and U.S. President Donald Trump’s Senior Adviser for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos.
