The Sudan Doctors Network has warned of a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian and health situation in areas west of Bara in North Kordofan State, where more than 200,000 people, including about 20,000 children, are facing extremely harsh conditions due to severe shortages of food and medicine, compounded by outbreaks of measles and cholera.

The network said field reports indicate that more than 100 cases of measles have been recorded among children at several health centers, in addition to 45 confirmed cholera cases, amid a sharp decline in healthcare services and a critical shortage of essential medical supplies.

It added that several healthcare facilities are currently operating without any medical supplies, including hospitals and health centers in Taybat Al-Zaatari, Om Kuraidim, Al-Sheqeila, Awlad Awana, Om Saadoun, Om Doban, Al-Marra, Al-Haj Al-Lein, Damirat Abdu, Al-Kukaiti, Al-Ga'a, Om Heglig, Dweid, Al-Shouq, Om Ashira, and Al-Nabda.

The network said the affected administrative units include Taybat Al-Zaatari, Om Kuraidim, Al-Mazroub, Om Saadoun, Damira, and Al-Haj Al-Lein, warning that the continued disruption of medical and food supplies could trigger a major public health disaster and lead to rising mortality, particularly among children and other vulnerable groups.

The network called on the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to urgently deliver medicines, vaccines, and essential medical supplies, as well as food and safe drinking water, to contain the spread of disease and save civilian lives in the affected areas.
