The Wali of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, has ordered a fair and comprehensive assessment of citizens affected by the removal of informal housing and the completion of compensation files in line with legal frameworks, as part of measures aimed at protecting rights and preventing land-related disputes.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting of the Urban Planning Committee, where he emphasized the need to tighten control over land, adopt a clear mechanism for issuing official documents, and ensure the preservation of citizens’ rights. The Wali also called for setting a defined timeline to implement directives related to the post-war phase.
The meeting further addressed the importance of resolving chronic issues concerning land ownership and overlapping institutional mandates. The Wali stressed activating the role of urban planning authorities at the locality level in planning cities, villages, and industrial areas, and enhancing coordination among relevant bodies to achieve sustainable reconstruction and urban stability across Khartoum State.
