The Al-Gadarif State Ministry of Health said the state has recorded 248 newborn deaths since the beginning of 2026, noting that most of the fatalities were caused by acute sepsis.

The ministry added that maternal mortality declined during the first half of the year compared with the corresponding period in 2025. It said 47 maternal deaths were recorded among 27,149 births during 2026.
