Khartoum, Nabaa Sudan – The Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS), Amna Mirghani Hassan Al-Tom, chaired an expanded meeting at the Bank’s headquarters on Sunday to discuss the establishment of a fund to provide the resources needed to import strategic commodities, and to examine mechanisms for activating the role of the banking sector in financing their provision and supporting economic stability.
The meeting discussed the fund’s overall framework, the targeted commodities, participating entities, financing options, and the technical and regulatory aspects of its operations. The proposed fund is intended to improve the flow of supplies, reduce bottlenecks in supply chains and enhance market stability.
The discussions emphasised the importance of coordinating efforts among the relevant entities and harnessing the capacity of the banking sector to mobilise resources for financing priority commodities, thereby supporting commercial and productive activity and economic recovery.
